History and Characteristics

The third generation of super austenitic (such as Ultra 654 SMO, Alloy C-276) through the addition of high molybdenum (6%), nitrogen (0.2%) and other elements, pitting and crevice corrosion resistance is close to the nickel-based alloys, for seawater desalination, oil and gas extraction and other harsh.

Typical grades and properties

S31254 (UNS S31254): Containing 19.5%~20.5% Cr, 6% Mo, the resistance to corrosion by chloride ions is far more than that of 316L, which is widely used in reverse osmosis equipment and chemical pipelines.

Progress of localization: China's Jiuquan Iron & Steel has mass-produced 6Mo type super austenitic stainless steel, breaking overseas monopoly.
